I already wrote a blog entry on my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories, but thought I would list my top ten personal favorite SMK fan fiction authors. I apologize to those who are not on the list, since there are several I love, but could not include everyone. (Please forgive me TS, mrsvanderhosen, Merel, KissHerJack, LorelaiSquared, Toto, Robin and anyone else I may have forgotten). The list is in alphabetical order. Click on the author's screen name to link to their stories on Fanfiction.net. Stories can also be found on IFF Film Library, Wicky Archive, and Blue Boxers and Beyond. These sites can be found under the SMK link section on the menu bar.
Honorable Mentions: Of course, can not forget the queen of the tag extensions: Took me long enough, but I finally finished another of my season five project scripts. Guilt by Association can be read by clinking on the link.
In addition, I wrote Our Little Secret, a short fan fiction story for Séverine, who wanted a late third season Lee and Amanda story. Happy Reading!! Dates for the 30th SMK Anniversary celebration have been set and registration is now open. The dates will be October 4-5, 2013 at the Beverly Garland Holiday Inn at Universal Studios Hollywood. It's a FANtastic weekend for the fans of the show and a chance to meet the cast and crew of SMK. There are autograph sessions, a WB tour, a celebration dinner and drinks, and a Q&A panel. Click on the link for more information and details.
If you are interested in reading about the 25th SMK Anniversary celebration you can read about it here. The fourth and finale (sniffle-sniffle) and my personal favorite season of "Scarecrow and Mrs, King" is finally out in stores today. So excited to see my all-time favorite episodes; Night Crawler, Bad Timing and Stemwinder! Think I will just have to make a trip to my local Best Buy or Target after I drop my husband off at work today. Happy viewing to those who pre-ordered. Lee: I love you. Amanda: What? Update: Picked up my copy at Best Buy yesterday. Could not find it on the shelf at the local Target. Nonetheless, Amazon still has the best price. This past weekend, while Bruce was attending Armageddon Expo in Melbourne, Australia, he gave an interview where he talked about Tron, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Babylon 5, and Lantern City. Jumping to mark 05:30 in the video, he discusses the possibly of a Scarecrow and Mrs. King movie. Color me pleasantly surprised, because back in July, when I saw him at Pop Con LA, he told us fans, there would never be a Scarecrow and Mrs. King reunion movie. At the time, I disagreed with him. He's an actor and actors well. . . act! And I thought if the right person presented him with the story concept - he would do it. And the right person did present it to him. Kate Jackson has been back in contact with him after all these years. (And I am super, super excited that Kate contacted Bruce again). Now, all him and Kate need to do is pitch the idea to CBS. This is a dream-come-true. I have been wanting a reunion movie for 30 years and feel fans will finally get some closure. I also feel with Kate being the one pitching the idea, it will be done right. I know a lot of fans have concerns about it, but I have none. I have no doubt that the chemistry would still be there, I love their concept of a possible continuation of SMK, and I think this is exciting news. I hope and pray the idea gets picked up, after all, like Bruce said, "What was once old, is new again." Make it so, CBS, please! Received some unexpected but utterly delightful news today - on this the 29th Anniversary of Scarecrow and Mrs. King day. Tvshowsondvd posted an announcement from WB that the final and fourth season of Scarecrow and Mrs. King will be released on January 22, 2013. All I can add is YAY!!
Now available for pre-order on Amazon. Today is the 29 Anniversary of the premiere of Scarecrow and Mrs. King and just as I did for Chuck last week, I decided to write a list of my top 15 favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King episodes. I would love to hear your thoughts. 15. Ship of Spies Lee and Amanda go undercover on a cruise ship for engaged couples and to maintain their cover—they get married!! Love the wedding kiss – how nervous they both seem, Lee leaning in for a second kiss, and finally the look of total surprise. I love how Lee pops-up in the milk cooler and how Amanda changes her mind about spending the weekend with her friend to go on a cruise with Lee. And of course, how Amanda saves the day by figuring out the clues. I also love the tag. I am half-way through the SMK Season Five Screenwriting project. Script number six, I will be posting next week (once I get it back from the betas). Nevertheless, I would love some feedback on where the rest of the season should go - kind of like interactive fiction. What would YOU have liked to have seen if there had been a season five of Scarecrow and Mrs. King? Any comments, suggestions, feedback on the first six scripts? Don't be shy, I am open to ideas. This is your season too.
Also, I will be posting a new SMK fan fiction story soon. A short, little one-shot, set season one, between "There Goes the Neighborhood" and "If Thoughts Could Kill." I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and write early Lee and Amanda. Sadly, this story was supposed to be submitted to the SMK 30th Anniversary zine, but because of an illness, I missed the deadline. Lastly, I am always open to story suggestions. Anyone have a request? People often ask me for fan fiction recommendations, so I thought it would be fun to share a list of my personal favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories; therefore, I present "The Aluminum Sun Awards." Note: These are my own personal choices and categories. I tend to enjoy a well written, character driven drama a little more than fluff - but no worries, I included plenty of fluff. Would love to receive some feedback - I know not everyone has the same taste as I do, and would like to hear what your choices would be. (I hope someday to do this for Chuck, but have barely scratched the surface of Chuck (Charah) stories out there – although, I do love the story Amilyn wrote for me – Neighborly Intervention - it is utter Jellie joy). A drum roll please - and without further ado, my favorite Scarecrow and Mrs. King stories. . . No, I’m not talking about the Lincoln-Douglas debates – although good in their own right. I want to answer the great Lee and Amanda dispute of did they or didn’t they? Now, get your mind out of the gutter. Yes, we could debate whether Lee and Amanda waited to consummate their relationship before marriage, and for a long time I have been on the fence regarding this topic. The way some of the lines were written in season four, it sure gave the impression they did not wait until marriage, but again this was a family show, on during the family hour, and Bruce Boxleitner said at the 25th reunion, he thought Lee and Amanda waited until marriage. But I digress. I am talking about whether Lee and Amanda would have had children.
I believe Lee and Amanda would have expanded their family. I think Amanda would have been happy to give Lee the chance to be a father. I also think the two little words, “I’m pregnant,” would have brought forth the big reveal to the family and the Agency had there been a season five. However, I have gotten into virtual fisticuffs with some passionate fans who quiet amicably say Lee and Amanda would never have children, because of the nature of the jobs and how hard Amanda worked to become a full-time agent. Yes, I agree, Amanda had worked hard to become an agent, and it would have interfered with her job and she could not be running around ‘watching’ Lee’s back if she was pregnant, and then she would have had to take time to have a baby. On the other hand, I believe she would have wanted to have a child with Lee – to share in the experience of raising a child with him. I am sure he would have made a great stepfather, but I think Amanda would have loved to given him a chance at fatherhood, since she knew he desired to have a family after not being a part of one for so long. Yes, it would have changed some of the dynamics of the show, but I still think Lee and Amanda could have continued to work at the Agency and grown their family. What do you think? If you are interested in reading scripts from Scarecrow and Mrs. King, PDF files can be found on the fanpage smk-land.com. You can find them in the "Steno Pool" section, but you must sign-in first, because the scripts are password protected. I submitted some from my own personal collection. I enjoy reading the scripts and "seeing" the differences of what made it on the screen and what was cut. There are also a few never filmed episodes and the original "Honeymoon" episode before Kate Jackson's illness forced a rewrite and was changed to where she was shot and not in most of the scenes, except for a few short moments. Now, I am grateful Kate caught her cancer early and is a cancer survivor, but how much a difference it would have made to the final six episodes had she not been sick.
I'm thinking about submitting a story for The SMK Anniversary Committee, but I don't have any story ideas currently at the moment. For other SMK fan fiction writers, The Anniversary Committee is now taking fic submissions for a SMK fanzine to raise funds for the 30th Anniversary celebration.
Any fic submitted must be: - an original fic (not been published/posted anywhere else) - submitted by the author - publishing-ready (proofread, edited, etc.) - no higher than a PG-13 rating Please note that submitting a fic means, if it is chosen to be in the zine, you agree not to publish it anywhere else until after the 30th Anniversary celebration. You may submit more than 1 piece for consideration. Submit your fic(s) by June 30, 2012, by emailing them, preferably as an attachment in Word format, to the following email address: [email protected] Authors of fics selected will be notified by the end of July. The zine will go on sale by August. Thank you in advance for your fics! - The SMK Anniversary Committee |
